Pressotherapy For Lymphatic Drainage

By Sydney Kronfle, pH Labs Researcher & Contributor

Terms like “pressotherapy” and “lymphatic drainage” are terms we don’t hear a lot. Like many people I turn to celebrities for the latest wellness and beauty trends, but I always remain somewhat skeptical. I came across an article published back in May about 62-year-old British media star Carol Vorderman and her “wacky wellness routine” that helps keep her youthful and beautiful.

She does a lot: infrared saunas, cold-water therapy, 12-miles hikes and compression trousers (also known as pressotherapy leg massaging pants). The latter of these things caught my attention, because I wore a pair of compression trousers during a recent visit to Chiltonic (where I also experienced my first T-Shock facial and red light therapy treatment).

It looks kind of funny when you are wearing them, but if you look at the science behind why this treatment is effective I believe you will want to hop on the pressotherapy bandwagon.

Pressotherapy for Lymphatic Drainage

Pressotherapy is beneficial For  our Lymphatic Drainage system

Our bodies have two big systems for moving fluid around: the cardiovascular system and the lymphatic system. Both of these systems help the body’s tissues get what they need as well as eliminate what they do not need. You can read more about the lymphatic system and the benefits of lymphatic drainage massage here.

Pressotherapy is a very effective way to achieve lymphatic drainage massage. At Chiltonic, the STAR LYMPHATIC is one modality  used to achieve the pressure massage and drainage. Depending on your needs and preferences, the technician can apply light pressure or deep pressure.

I really enjoyed the deep pressure. For me, it actually felt anxiety-relieving. Benefits of this treatment may include:

  • Less pain, inflammation and swelling
  • Soothing tired muscles
  • Improving circulation
  • Better energy levels
  • Improved immune system function

To give you a better understanding, lymphatic drainage encourages the flow of lymph fluid, and this basically enhances the natural processes of your internal organs. So think of pressotherapy as a detoxifying treatment. Additional benefits may include sculpting body tissue for a more toned and fit appearance, preventing and treating cellulite and an overall improvement in the appearance of skin. It is very important to drink plenty of water after this treatment to help flush the toxins out of your body.

Lymphatic drainage using Pressotherapy is one good way to pamper yourself

It is important to take the time to learn about therapies that can help us lead a healthy life. As always, consult a competent healthcare professional before treatment (especially if you have any existing health issues or are pregnant).
